During the Scholastic Book Fair at Rose Acres, library technology specialist Nicole Mikel grew a storybook pumpkin patch. Jasper Rabbit from “Creepy Carrots!” was joined by 79 additional book characters.
“The kids picked book characters that they love and created pumpkins at home,” Mikel said. “Some were really creative, and it was fun to see and hear how our families came together and worked with their kids on them."

Fourth graders at Rose Acres Elementary are holding their own version of Shark Week and every classroom is decorated with an underwater theme.
"We've been studying nonfiction text features and learning how to use expository nonfiction," fourth grade teacher Mary Spitzmiller said. "We integrated nonfiction into our science unit that is on animal structures and behaviors."
