Sixth graders in Lauren Niewald’s class at Remington Traditional were challenged to build a zipline that provided tourists the longest tour over the mountains with only the materials provided. Each group was provided rubber bands, paperclips, straws, string, bucket, scissors and tape.
Using STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) skills, students incorporated the same process that engineers use on a job site: define the problem, brainstorm solutions, design a solution, build it, test it, evaluate it and then revise.
As principal at Briar Crest Elementary School from 2001 to 2007, Tim Pecoraro awarded staff members like Jill Ramig with coupons they could redeem for 30 minutes of classroom coverage by him. 
Students from Pattonville’s elementary schools and Remington Traditional School participated in the annual Districtwide Elementary Mark Twain Book Battle today at the Learning Center. The two teams from Willow Brook Elementary claimed first and second place and a team from Bridgeway Elementary finished in third. 
The Area-Wide Middle School Book Battle was held on May 4 at Pattonville Heights Middle School with 20 in-person teams and six that joined virtually. Holman Middle School, Pattonville Heights Middle School and Remington Traditional School each had a team competing at the event. 
Third graders at Remington Traditional participated in the Olympic Reading Marathon on Feb. 11. Every student read for 10 minutes in the library and then returned to class to pass a torch on to another student in Isabelle Garcia-Blackwell and Christy Hillier's classes. The event is running from Feb. 8 to 17 allowing every grade a chance to participate.
