Free Meals Ended
Since the start of the pandemic in 2020, Pattonville has provided free meals for all students through the funding provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which has been extended multiple times by Congress. That funding has expired, which means that free meals will no longer be available to all Pattonville students in the 2022-23 school year. Families who submitted and were approved for free/reduced meals this year, will carry over that status for the first 30 days of school year 2022-2023. All families are required to reapply starting July 2022 when the income guidelines change in order to be eligible for free/reduced meals throughout the whole school year of 2022-2023.

About our program
Our job is to make sure that we serve healthy, well-balanced meals that students will enjoy eating, and truth be told, we love our job! We are dedicated to our community not only in a time of emergency but also moving forward. We are excited for this school year. From the chefs and dietitians who develop tasty recipes to the managers who select the best locally grown produce, to the cashiers and servers who greet our students every day, our team is excited to make eating at school a great experience. Our meals are planned to accommodate the average nutritional needs of students based on current USDA regulations and guidelines. The food group components offered at breakfast are targeted to meet the Recommended Daily Allowance of nutrients (RDA) while the lunches meet 1/3 the RDA. Efforts have been successful in reducing salt, sugar and fat in the Pattonville diet through the promotion of balance, moderation and variety. Our "offer verses serve" system allows students to choose as few as three or as many as five of the offered food group components while still qualifying for the same student discount price and allowing for less waste.
Beginning the first day of school, breakfast is offered to all students at no charge. Our goal is to encourage students to start their day with a nutritious breakfast. Studies have also shown that in schools where breakfast is served, students are better prepared for learning. They are more enthused to start class, show improved behavior, experience reduced visits to the nurse and show a general increase in composite math and reading percentile scores. The "grab n go" meal consists of an array of yogurts and milks, fruit and juice, cereal and bagels along with an assortment of hot entrees. Please encourage your children to participate.
Student Approved favorites can be found throughout our menus. We have many new menu items planned for next year. We emphasize whole grains, lean meat and meat alternatives, fresh fruits and vegetables, and low fat milk. We are looking forward to incorporating produce from the Pattonville Youth Garden. Vegetarian options will be added regularly.
Checks and cash are accepted at all school locations. Credit cards are accepted with a service fee through MySchoolBucks.com. Follow the instructions for "new user. and if you experience any problems, please call the food service office at (314) 213-8054.
Government regulations separate students into three categories for reimbursements based on family income. At Pattonville, we do not charge students in the free or reduced category. Income information is treated confidentially and applications are available above through the schools' office.
