Each month during the school year, the Pattonville Board of Education honors students, staff and volunteers who have gained recognition outside of the district or who’ve made a special contribution to Pattonville.

Rose Acres

Write Stuff Contest

Fourth grader River Schwalm‘s short story was recognized by the St. Louis County Library in its annual Write Stuff Short Story Contest. More than 300 submissions were entered and Schwalm's creative story, “The Cheese Burger,” earned first place in the Grades 3-5 category.

Greater St. Louis Science Fair

Students from Rose Acres and the PEGS program earned ribbons at the St. Louis Science Fair. Earning a blue ribbon at the St. Louis Science Fair were: Lillian Bennett, Brooks Carter, Emery Curnutt, Daniel Katz, Claire Pulley, Jacaranda Reinertson, Austin Schiller, Matthias Schillinger, Max Schneider, Charles Stage and Raelyn Wilson. Emily Pitlyk and River Schwalm earned a white ribbon. Oscar Kwon earned a green ribbon. These students were sponsored by gifted teacher Allison Bennett and paraprofessional Rungsee Suvansri.

Willow Brook

Greater St. Louis Science Fair

Students from Willow Brook Elementary School earned ribbons at the St. Louis Science Fair. Olivia Clark earned a blue ribbon. Earning a white ribbon were Eve Colletti, Rafa Gerhold and Kyle Moeller. Earning a green ribbon were Avery Adewunmi, Gregory Aubuchon, Elodie Briggs, Buuveimaa Bulgan, William Larose, Madelynn Latchison and Akiya Milkesa. These students were sponsored by fifth grade teacher Billy Thompson.

Gateway Arts Festival

Second through fifth grade students from Willow Brook created artwork and 44 had a piece that was featured in the Gateway Arts Festival. Students were invited to submit a piece using any medium that tied into the theme Music in Missouri. The prompt was “How do you see or interpret music around you visually in our state?” Student artwork was on display at the festival on May 1 and 2 at Green Trails Church in Chesterfield. Daimoni Fry earned third place in the category for ages 9 to 10. Band

Students earned superior and excellent ratings for their performance at the Solo and Small Ensemble Festival. Students earning a superior rating were: Cassidy Mitchell for alto saxophone solo; Loretta Eckhardt and Bethel Fantahun for brass duet; Rodniese Randall and Chance Williams for clarinet duet; Sahasra Maram for clarinet solo; Eliana Seyoum for flute solo; Bethel Fantahun for French horn solo; Jayden Machuki for mallet solo; Gavin Darrah for tenor sax solo; and Maya Ayele, Sahasra Maram and Eliana Seyoum for woodwind trio. Students who earned an excellent rating were: Randall for clarinet solo; Sidhesh Doki and Alexis Nothdurft for trombone solo; and Carter Lipscomb for trumpet solos. Students were part of a large group that earned an excellent rating at the Six Flags Music Festival. The Remington band was directed by Andrew Smith.

Orchestra

Students who earned a 1 rating at the Solo and Small Ensemble Festival were: Ava Payne and Elijah Schowengerdt for string duet; Stewart King Jr. for viola solo; and Laila Clark, Aklisiya Fekadu, Sasha Francis, Noah Gharabeygi, Claire Lau and Avignya Maram for violin duets. Earning a 2 rating were: CJ Boyd and Quinn Koehler for cello solos; Maycie Cook, Madison Beverly, King Jr., Koehler, Malachi Parker and Mackenzie Wheatley for string duets; Wheatley for viola solo; Norah Wilson and Nazari Zanetello for violin duet; and Clark and Payne for violin solos. The Remington orchestra was directed by Marie Brown.

Gymnastics

Eighth grader Evelyn McNiff, a Level 7 gymnast at Team Central Gymnastics, was named the top athlete in her level in the state. Level 7 is the first optional level in USA Gymnastics' Development Program and gymnasts must perform unique routines that meet specific requirements rather than compulsory routines. McNiff scored two perfect 10s on vault at the Olympia Crown Invitational. At the Missouri State Gymnastics Competition, she placed first on vault, bars and beam and was named first all-around out of 106 gymnasts.

Band

Choir

A group of sixth graders were selected to participate in the Missouri Choral Directors Association Summer Honor Choir. They were Mesa Baczynski, Skye Diggs, Jacquelynn Gabriel-Smith and Chelsea Lapsley. Students also earned honors for vocal solo at the Solo and Small Ensemble Festival. Isabella Flores, Dagny Hurlbut and Rebecca Wulf earned a 1 rating. Students who earned a 2 rating were Baczynski, Taylor Harper, Skylar Misiewicz and Cole Wiley. The Holman choir was directed by Heather Blackwell.

 

Orchestra

Students who earned a 1 rating at the Solo and Small Ensemble Festival were: Brooklyn Barr and Zoey Masat for string duet; Emanuel Turja Elvira for viola solo; and Caleb Sosman and Aaron Voss for violin solos. Earning a 2 rating were: Harshini Alwar for cello solo; Mesa Baczynski, Skye Diggs, Chloe Foss and Jayla Powell for string duets; Kathryn Cousino, Sean Hendrick, Destiny Parker and Elijah Washington for string quartet; and Hazel Edmonds, Parker Gliedt and Evelyn Yakel for string trio. Choir

Seventh grader Henry Hershberger and eighth grader Natalie Shui were selected to participate in the Missouri Choral Directors Association Summer Honor Choir and earned a 1 rating for vocal solo at the Solo and Ensemble Festival. Also earning a superior rating for vocal solo was Brian Vance. Earning a 2 rating for vocal solo were Nomin Amgalanbaatar and Caden McCandless. The Pattonville Heights choir was directed by Kurtis Heinrich with the assistance of musical accompanist Thomas Yonke.

Orchestra

Earning a 1 rating at the Solo and Small Ensemble Festival were: Alexa Chanocua Ruiz, Orlaith Keane and Joshua Salinas for string duets; and Emma Derby, Pearl Krieger, Natalie Nawik, Devina Skye and Kal-El Stinekraus for violin solos. Earning a 2 rating were: Zion Lane for bass solo; and Arya Eader, Celia Prentice and Grace Smith for string trio. The Pattonville Heights orchestra was directed by Marie Brown and Carlye Feeney.

High School

National Merit Scholarship

Pattonville High School senior Eli Dukes was offered the National Merit Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Scholarship, a college-sponsored sponsorship for use at the provided institution. The scholarship is part of the National Merit Scholarship Program, an annual academic competition for high school students to earn recognition and college scholarships. To enter, students must meet published program entry and participation requirements, including taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

St. Louis Post-Dispatch Scholar Athlete

Senior Jenna Ridings was named the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Scholar Athlete for Pattonville High School. The scholar athlete program honors high school seniors who excel in both athletics and academics. Each school selects one student who lettered in at least one varsity sport and ranks in the top 25% of their graduating class. Scholar Athletes were honored in a special section of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch newspaper on May 5. As a swimmer, Jenna was the Suburban Conference Red Pool swimmer of the year in 2025 and holds multiple school records. She is a seven-time state finalist, three-year conference champion and three-time first team all-conference honoree. Academically, she is one of the top scholars in her class and is involved in several honor societies and leadership activities.

St. Louis Public Radio Photojournalist

Junior Westerly Woods received honorable mention for a landscape photograph he submitted in the St. Louis Public Radio Teen Photojournalist Contest. The winning and honorable mention photographs were featured in a framed gallery exhibition and large-screen display in the Public Media Commons at St. Louis Public Radio. Additionally, honorees were invited to attend a master class with STLPR visuals editor Brian Munoz.

FCCLA

Students in Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) competed in the Regional Students Taking Action with Recognition (STAR) Events competition on Jan. 14. Of the participants, 22 students qualified to compete at the state level and eight attended the competition in March. At state, four students placed in the top five and one student also qualified for the national competition. Students who placed at state were: Kady Ohlsen placing second in career investigation, qualifying her for the national competition in July; Josselina Esquivel in the top five in fashion design; and Madelyn Curry and Emily Erickson-Karanja in the top five in chapter service project portfolio. Students who also competed in the state competition after qualifying at the regional event were: Alejandra Ayala Recoder in food innovations; Shauntavia Conway in career investigation; Lola Hennrich in event management; Harper Lee Parker in focus on children; and Jasmine Duncan and Nowah Tokpa in focus on children. Students who also qualified for state after competing at the regional event were: Chelsea Evans and AJ Meredith Jr. in chapter service portfolio; Andre Gray Jr. and Zariyah Rice in entrepreneurship; Erin Greenblatt, Julianna Baumer, Summer Ros and Pearl Truong in event management; Kennedy English and Lydia Nega in fashion design; Marcia Battiest in food innovations; Kijah Chamberlain in interior design; and Robye Bozeman Nettles and Kibrea Hamilton in repurpose and redesign. Additional students who competed at the regional event were: Amanda Eberts and Samantha Sanchez Contreras in chapter service display; Rasheed Hogan in chapter service portfolio; Eian Linenbroker and Yoselin Martinez Alvarado in culinary arts; Saed Aburomila and Melissa Rojas Valdez in food innovations; Peyton Castle and Brae Midkiff in interior design; and Kendyl Blair, McKenzie Dawson and Kaleb Goodwin in sports nutrition. FCCLA was sponsored by family and consumer sciences teacher Madison Avery.

Rocket League

The Rocket League esports team placed fourth in the state championship tournament. The esports program at Pattonville started in 2024 and the teams play through the Missouri Scholastic Esports Federation (MOSEF). The following students were part of the team: Dylan Blassingame, Elijah Greenblatt, Gabe Hausermann and Justin Mbugua as a substitute. The esports team was sponsored by math teacher Brandon Clark.

TSA State Championship

Students competed in the Technology Student Association (TSA) State Championship and placed in several events. Students who earned first place were: Daniel Clifford, Tanish Dorasani, Eli Dukes, Brendan Harris, Lucas Konopka and Nicholas Shao in the drone challenge; Aiden Alvey and Samuel Gunawan in manufacturing prototype; Jacob Snowden in photographic technology; and Tiffany Chu, Tristan Curry, Dorasani, Dukes and Sam Guthrie in virtual reality visualization. Konopka and Shao placed second in data science and analytics and Chu placed second in promotional design. Students placing third were Moussa Abraheem and Clifford in biotechnology design; Snowden in dragster design; Lydia Greenwalt-Hamil, Harrison Lee and Xander Willingham in fashion design and technology; Alvey and Gunawan in technology problem solving; Chu and Guthrie in coding; Abraheem, Clifford and Harris in digital video production; Abraheem and Konopka in forensic science; and Taylor Flores in music production. Students placing in the top five of an event were: Alvey in dragster design; Alvey and Gunawan in structural design and engineering; Dylan Cochran, Clare Derhake, Flores, Guthrie and Lauren Wasser in audio podcasting; Dorasani and Dukes in coding; Greenwalt-Hamil, Lee and Willingham in digital video production; Alvey in photographic technology; and Curry, Dukes and Willingham in technology bowl. Students placing in the top 10 of an event were: Neal Davey, Devon Pruitt and Keith Williams in board game design; Willingham in prepared presentation; Clifford and Harris in structural design and engineering; Abraheem, Clifford, Harris, Konopka and Shao in audio podcasting; Chu, Curry, Dorasani, Dukes and Guthrie in video game design; and Chu, Dorasani, Dukes and Guthrie in webmaster. TSA was sponsored by computer science teacher Stephanie Carson.

Band

Members of the band performed at the State Music Festival after earning a 1 rating at the district Solo and Small Ensemble Festival. Students who earned a gold medal at the state festival were: Chase Cheatham for euphonium solo; Dylan Jamison for piano solo; and Ann Russell for flute solo. Students who earned a silver medal were: Kimora Watson for alto saxophone solo; Zo Click for bassoon solo; Graciela Esquivel and Eleanor Winkler for clarinet solos; Anthony Alexander, Esquivel, Raymoen Goodrich Jr., Taylor Gray, Sarah Hicks, Olivia Monroe, Samay Verma, Nathan Weiss and Winkler for clarinet trios; Gabriella Cruz and Alexis Leap for flute solos; Rihanna Carter, Andrew Koller, Isabella Sanfilippo and Watson for saxophone quartet; and Madelyn Graber, Jaden Jenner, Jacob Langston and Noah VanHoosier for trumpet quartet. At the district festival, Joshua Bean earned a 1 rating for mallet solo. Choir

Members of the choir performed at the State Music Festival after earning a 1 rating at the district Solo and Small Ensemble Festival. The students who earned a gold medal for vocal solo were: Christi Dyer, Kaylee Dyer and Nicholas Shao. Students who earned a silver medal at the state festival were: Valentina Alatorre Quintero, Rihanna Carter, Nava-Shai Douglas, Emily Erickson-Karanja, Josselina Esquivel, Ava Flores, Lydia Greenwalt-Hamil, Esme Hurlbut, Leah Schamber and Joana Tena Gaona for vocal ensemble; and Nicholas Benbow, Elijah McCollum, Layla Stuart and Eleanor VanEngelen for vocal solos. Students who earned a 2 rating for vocal ensemble at the district festival were Benbow, Reece Corbin, Adam Graham, Camden Grimes, Ian MacDonald, Spencer Mitchell, Tim Nelson, Gabriel Palermo, Khadime Seck, Minh Tri Nguyen and Landon Zavala. Students who earned a 2 rating for vocal solo were Zo Click, Makayla Ellis, Erickson-Karanja, Lillian Freund, Caleb Harrington, Ava Johnson, Omolola Ogunmola, Riley Orach, Rizwan Talukder and Taylor Williams. The high school choir was directed by Melynda Lamb and Aaron Zart.

Orchestra

Members of the orchestra participated in the State and District Solo and Small Ensemble festivals and the orchestra placed first in its division at the Silver Dollar City Music Festival and was named first place best orchestra of the day. In addition, at the State Large Ensemble Festival, the group earned a 1 rating for symphonic orchestra and an outstanding rating for chamber orchestra at the large group festival. The students who earned a gold medal for violin solo at the state festival were Clare Derhake, Samuel Gunawan, Pei Lin Lan and Tracy Machuki. At the district festival, Imani Wood and Emnet Zelealem earned a 1 rating for string duet and Ethan Fajardo earned a 1 rating for viola solo. Students who earned a 2 rating were: Melaina Prentice for bass solo; Anderson Martin and Eleanor VanEngelen for cello solos; Ethan Arana, Grace Bagsby, Elias El-Ghazal, Brooklyn Elliott, Chelsey Felder, Kaylee Gooden, Nasya Kirksey, Mary Lako, Bricyn Love, Molly Maue, Jobe McCarron, Melaina Prentice, Ciara Ratliff, Gianna Spinali, William Truong, VanEngelen, Jackson Williams and Noelle Wilson for string duets; Drake Kelly for viola solo; and Bagsby for violin solo. The high school orchestra was directed by Paul Rueschhoff.

Drill Team

The varsity drill team earned fourth place in small varsity hip hop at the National Dance Association (NDA) National Championship. At the NDA summer camp, the team earned superior elite team dance and superior showmanship award. At the Lindbergh Invitational, they earned first place in hip hop and third place in pom routine. At the Seckman Regional, they also placed first in hip hop and third in pom routine. Members of the varsity drill team were Kylar Burns, Aliya Curry, Aubrey Kirk, Karson Schneider, MacKenzie Shelton, Tori Stewart, Zariyah Rice, Shreeya Verma, Alexis Volz and Ca'liyah Wallace. The drill team was coached by Anise Williams with the assistance of Isabel DiSalvo and Jo Harshbarger.

 

Baseball

Players named all-conference first team were Tyler Manker as a catcher; Bryion Fips as an infielder, Noah Hoerner and Jace Robinson as outfielders; and Brayden Wishard as a pitcher. Students named all-conference honorable mention were Cameron Crumble and Zayden Patel as pitchers. Brody Lee was selected to receive the Gold Glove award. Jack Scott was selected to receive the all-conference sportsmanship award. The baseball team was coached by Victor Fink with the assistance of Cody Brooks, Josh Grumke and Doug McGhee.

Golf

Daniel Clifford was named all-conference second team. The golf team was coached by Scott Hutson with the assistance of David Gross.

Lacrosse

Students were named to all-conference teams and the lacrosse team was selected to receive the Spirit of the Game award. Paiten Buehrle was named all-conference first team as an attack and midfielder and Lola Hennrich was named all-conference first team as a midfielder. Named all-conference second team were Zion Brock for defense and attack and Kaliyah Petty as a midfielder. Students named all-conference honorable mention were Kijah Chamberlain for attack and Abby Silverstein as goalie. Additional students who were part of the team that received the Spirit of the Game award were Valentina Alatorre Quintero, Disai Beard, Alliah Cruz, Mya Cruz, Skylar Deason, Kaylee Dionicio Hernandez, Amora Greenlee, Audrey Jimenez Mejia, Kassidy McKeever, Alissia Medina, Brae Midkiff, Blessing Nderitu, Adama Ndiaye, Summer Ros, Chloe Stokes, Esmeralda Vargas, Ca’liyah Wallace and Kylie Williams. The girls lacrosse team was coached by Hannah Cooper with the assistance of Alexandria Taylor and Sophia Zegar.

Soccer

Students named all-conference first team were Kadence Craig, Kyann Craig and Theresa Rothkopf. Players who were named all-conference second team were Rylan Denbow and Jhournee Harris. Aliya Curry was selected to receive the all-conference sportsmanship award. Students who earned academic all-conference were Curry, Denbow, Myla Hunter, Sophia Luraschi, Kady Ohlsen, Lucy Rothkopf, Theresa Rothkopf and Alyssa Yin. The soccer team was coached by MaryClare Stoker.

Boys Track and Field

Members of the track and field team participated at state. In the 4x200 meter relay, the team placed second after placing first at sectionals, first at districts and fourth at the conference championships. The 4x400 meter relay team placed eighth at state after placing first at sectionals, first at districts and third at the conferences. Additionally, at districts, the 4x100 meter relay placed first after placing first at the conferences. At the state championships: Andrew Bryson placed first in adaptive wheelchair discus after placing first at sectionals and placed first in shotput. Stephen Booth II, Jackson Powell, Jerrail West and Gary Williams Jr. were part of the 4x200 meter relay and the 4x400 meter relay. Additionally, Brandon Durant placed sixth in the 110 meter hurdles after placing fourth at sectionals, second at districts and first at conferences. Williams Jr. placed sixth in the 200 meter dash after placing second at sectionals and first at districts. Powell placed eighth in the 400 meter dash after placing third at sectionals and second at districts. At sectionals: Durant placed second in the 300 meter hurdles after placing first at the district and conferences. Noah VanHoosier placed fifth in the 1600 meter run after placing third at districts and fourth at conferences and he placed sixth in the 800 meter run at sectionals after placing second at districts and fifth at conferences. Daniel Clifford placed fifth in the 3200 meter run after placing third at districts and first at conferences. Miles Smith placed sixth in javelin after placing fourth at districts and eighth at conferences. Marquise Griffin placed sixth in triple jump after placing third at districts. Peyton Marmon placed seventh in shot put after placing third at the district and conferences. Brandt Jefferson placed eighth in long jump after placing second at districts. At districts, the following students placed first: Booth II, Tyrice Coleman, West and Williams Jr. in the 4x100 meter relay; Gage Lindsey placed fifth in javelin after placing fifth at conferences. Also in fifth was Powell in the 200 meter dash. Kaleb Thomas placed fifth in discus and Laurendez Hill placed sixth after placing fifth at conferences. Jobe McCarron placed sixth in pole vault after placing fifth at the conferences and Jackson Williams placed eighth after placing third at conferences. Eli Dukes placed seventh in the 3200 meter run after placing ninth at conferences. Placing seventh was Jefferson in triple jump. Landon Heinz placed ninth in the 800 meter run after placing 11th at conferences. Torelingo Boatner placed 10th in the 100 meter dash, Christopher Ngoma placed 10th in shot put after placing 10th at conferences and Coleman placed 12th in the 100 meter dash. Also at the conference championships: Williams Jr. placed third in the 100 meter dash; Dukes placed ninth in the 1600 meter run; West placed fifth in the 200 meter dash; and Booth II placed fourth and Jefferson placed sixth in the 400 meter dash.

Girls Track and Field

At sectionals, Olivia Hurd placed fifth in the 400 meter dash after placing fourth at districts. Zaryiah Martin placed seventh in the 300 meter hurdles after placing third at the district and conference championships. Kaylin Belk placed eighth in the 300 meter hurdles after placing fourth at districts and first at the conference championships. At districts, London Bell, Leslie Bryant, Chloe Tate and Londyn Watts were part of the 4x200 meter relay team that placed sixth after placing third at conferences. Morgan McClymont placed sixth in the 3200 meter run after placing sixth at conferences. McKenzie Dawson placed seventh in the 1600 meter run after placing ninth at conferences. Martin placed seventh in triple jump and eighth in long jump. McClymont placed eighth in the 1600 meter run after placing seventh at conferences. Jada Duncan placed ninth in discus. Omma Oyeilumi placed ninth in the 800 meter run. Bryant placed 10th in the 200 meter dash after placing fourth at conferences. In shot put, Serenity Hardimon placed 10th and Chelsey Felder placed 11th after placing fourth at conferences. Duncan placed 11th in discus. Anyla Miller-Roby placed 12th in long jump and Zoey Pollard placed 12th in the 200 meter dash. Tate placed 13th in the 400 meter dash. In the 100 meter dash, Bell placed 15th after placing fifth at conferences and Zoey Pollard placed 17th. At the conference championships, Martin placed first in the 100 meter hurdles and Belk placed seventh. Akayla Williams placed sixth in the 400 meter dash. Khalei Jimerson placed seventh in javelin and Duncan placed eighth. Tate placed eighth in the 200 meter dash. The boys and girls track and field teams were coached by Chaun Tate with the assistance of Kevin Clark, Natasha Fortenbury, Chris Gleghorn, Dominic Licameli, Matt McClellan, William Roach, Kayla Smith, Rob Whitehead and Kenya Whitney.

Volleyball

Milo Mainquist was named Best and Brightest by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Students named academic all-state were Aiden Alvey, Tristan Curry, Ben Heimsoth, Mainquist, AJ Meredith and Jacob Snowden. Students named all-district first team were Brandon Elder and Meredith. Students named all-district second team were Alvey, Curry, Heimsoth and Mainquist. Mainquist was named all-conference first team. Meredith was named all-conference second team. Students named all-conference honorable mention were Alvey, Curry, Elder and Heimsoth. Additionally, Alvey, Curry, Heimsoth, Andrew Koller, Mainquist, Meredith and Snowden were named academic all-conference. The boys volleyball team was coached by Jenell Franken with the assistance of Jessica Hale.

Water Polo

Thomas Reddy and Ezekiel Schaefer were named all-conference third team. Students named academic all-conference were Cora Bland, Erin Greenblatt, Lucy Hartley, Zoe Mikitin, Cooper Salvia and Schaefer. The water polo team was coached by Tom Crockett with the assistance of Gabe Faron.

James Madison Fellowship

Social studies teacher Tom Crockett was awarded the James Madison Memorial Fellowship award. This fellowship is the most prestigious award for constitutional history and government for secondary level teachers who are committed to teaching American history, government and civics with a focus on the U.S. Constitution. 45 recipients were selected nationally by an independent committee through a competitive process based on academic achievements and dedication to constitutional education.

Districtwide

St. Louis Symphony Extra Credit

Five Pattonville music teachers were invited to perform in the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra (SLSO) concert Extra Credit: On Stage. This free, collaborative community concert honored K-12 music educators for their vital role in shaping students and communities. Local vocal and instrumental music teachers were paired with SLSO musicians to rehearse and perform together on stage at Powell Hall on April 24. The following teachers were selected: Marie Brown (Academy of Innovation at Remington and Pattonville Heights Middle School), Jacob Bubb (Pattonville High School), Carlye Feeney and Liz Pace (Pattonville Heights), Irena Goren-Sheer (Holman Middle School and Drummond and Rose Acres elementary schools) and Jacob Johnson (Drummond).
