Pattonville transitioning to ParentSquare as school-to-home communications platform

The Pattonville Board of Education, on May 12, approved the selection of ParentSquare as the district’s new school-to-home communications platform. ParentSquare will be implemented for the 2026-2027 school year. The decision follows feedback from families and staff, as well as an evaluation of the district’s current platform, Bloomz, during its first full year of implementation.

A districtwide survey conducted in March highlighted a clear preference of having a centralized platform for communication. Of respondents, 89% of families and 72% of staff indicated that a single, unified system is important. At the same time, the survey results showed that Bloomz did not consistently meet expectations for usability, reliability or overall effectiveness. Many respondents indicated that the platform was less effective or no more effective than previous communication methods, and a significant number reported that it did not improve their ability to communicate or receive information.

To identify a path forward, the district developed a committee of staff members representing a range of roles and schools. The committee reviewed two potential replacement platforms, evaluating each option based on criteria such as reliability, ease of use, functionality, features, translation and support for communication between families, students and staff.

Following demonstrations and reviews of the platform, 100% of committee members selected ParentSquare as the preferred platform. The recommendation was based on the platform’s ability to provide a more streamlined and consistent communication experience for both families and staff.

In addition to the committee’s work, the district gathered feedback from other school systems. Districts of similar size, as well as larger districts, reported positive experiences with ParentSquare, particularly in terms of reliability, user experience and overall performance.

The district will begin implementation planning in the coming weeks. Additional information, including timelines, training opportunities and onboarding details, will be shared with staff and families as it becomes available. Support resources will also be provided to help ensure a smooth transition.
