Bridgeway fifth graders work with Marines
The Few. The Proud. The Bulldogs.
Members of the U.S. Marine Corps were at Bridgeway Elementary School on Tuesday to conduct a fitness and leadership opportunity with select fifth graders.
“The students' self discipline, ability to work together as a team and just the effort they are putting into the drills is impressive,” PE teacher Steve Jones said. “They are cheering each other on and motivating each other to finish everything they try.”
The Marines leading the activities said their Core Values are Honor, Courage and Commitment and that the Marines are one big team who rely on each other for every mission. The message they shared to the fifth graders was that when they move on to middle school, they will need to rely on each other to be successful and to be good examples for their peers.
Jones said he enjoyed the opportunity for the students and hopes it benefits and motivates them.
“I wanted them to see what is available and what's out there,” he said. “To learn from the Marine Corps, that's the best of the best right there.”
