Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity is the practice of keeping our online accounts and data safe from outside threats.

DATA IS CURRENCY. Unfortunately, that makes school districts prime targets for cyber criminals who will stop at nothing to gain a foot-hold in our environment.

Everyone in our organization has a role to play in cybersecurity.

And while the average employee can't prevent outside threats, we can all do some very simple things to make us unlikely to be victims of cybercrime:

  1. Keep all devices updated and running secure software,
  2. Use strong passwords,
  3. Protect accounts using Multi-Factor or Two-Factor Authentication,
  4. Recognize and report phishing emails and social engineering attempts.

95% of all data breaches occur as a result of human error.

- IBM Study, 2021

By using these strategies, we can rest easy knowing we did our part!

The Pattonville Technology Services Department sincerely want to be able to help staff, students, and our community members be savvy against these modern threats to security and know how to protect themselves and their families everyday. We've curated resources we think will help you.

Report any suspicious activity to your building technology support or the district helpdesk immediately!
