Recognition Programs

Each year, the Pattonville School District names a district Teacher of the Year, Support Staff Employee of the Year and up to 10 Pride of Pattonville honorees. In 2021, the district introduced a Rookie of the Year award for staff who are new to the district. Each of these honorees is recognized during the Pattonville's District Appreciation Night in May.

Nominations for Teacher and Support Staff of the Year are now closed. Pride of Pattonville nominations will open in February.

Recognition Programs

Teacher of the Year

The Pattonville Teacher of the Year is selected based on service, dedication and communication skills. Based on nominations from the community, each school selects a building-level Teacher of the Year. From those candidates, a committee of their peers selects three finalists and a district-level honoree who is named during District Appreciation Night in May. That teacher will represent the district in the state Teacher of the Year program.

The district Support Staff of the Year is selected based on service, dedication and work ethic. Based on nominations from the community, each school and a district services group selects a building-level Support Staff Employee of the Year. From those candidates, a committee of their peers selects three finalists and a district-level honoree who is named during District Appreciation Night in May.

Rookie of the Year

The Rookie of the Year program was introduced in 2021. All eligible teacher and support staff nominees who are in their first or second year in the district are automatically considered for the award. A committee will review the nominations and select one teacher Rookie of the Year and one support Staff Rookie of the Year. Those honorees will be announced in April and recognized at District Appreciation Night in May.

Rookie of the Year

Pride of Pattonville

The district's most prestigious honor, the Pride of Pattonville award recognizes up to 10 honorees from the Pattonville community. Honorees can be district staff, volunteers or others who have gone above and beyond for the district. Nominations for Pride of Pattonville open in February and the honorees are announced in April.

Criteria

Service to the district above and beyond the call of duty
Years and a variety of types of service
Support of the district as a whole and participation in its functions
Excellence in job performance as a staff member or volunteer

Process

Nominations open in February.
A screening committee consisting of Pride of Pattonville award recipients from the previous two years makes the selection from the nominations submitted by staff, students, parents and community members. A maximum of 10 awards is given each year.
The committee notifies the recipients of their selection at least one week before the district's annual District Appreciation Night in May, which is when the awards are presented.

Any current district employee, parent or other friend of Pattonville is eligible to receive a Pride of Pattonville award.

Pride of Pattonville

District Appreciation Night

Each May, Pattonville School District honors staff and volunteers during its annual appreciation event. District Appreciation Night takes place on the first Monday in May and is held in the auditorium at Pattonville High School. The event is open to the community. The awards program is preceded by a dinner for the honorees. During the event, the district recognizes the Teacher, Support Staff and Rookies of the Year, the Pride of Pattonville honorees, retiring staff, staff in a milestone service year, parent support organization volunteers and any outgoing board of education members.
