Pattonville Heights Middle School orchestra teacher Carlye Feeney was selected to participate in a concert with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra (SLSO).
The "EXTRA CREDIT On Stage at Powell" concert on Oct. 4 celebrated music educators in the region by inviting music teachers to join musicians from the SLSO in a side-by-side concert on stage at Powell Hall. SLSO's resident conductor Gemma New conducted the concert, which included several orchestral favorites.
"The benefits of music education in our schools are numerous and well documented," said Maureen Byrne, SLSO's associate vice president of education and community partnerships, in a letter to Feeney's principal, Dr. Scot Mosher. "(This concert) provides an opportunity to celebrate the educators who inspire the effort required by their students to learn to play an instrument and perform successfully in an ensemble."
