A jazz band combo from Pattonville High School attended the Feb. 26 board meeting to thank the school board for its volunteer work. The student band was on hand to recognize members of the Pattonville Board of Education as part of School Board Recognition Week in Missouri. In addition, board members received special thank you cards designed and signed by students from throughout the district.

The Pattonville school board was named a 2018 Outstanding Board of Education for Climate, Culture and Organizational Efficacy by the Missouri School Boards’ Association (MSBA). MSBA’s Outstanding Board of Education awards encourage effective board practices and recognize outstanding board performance in six categories. The Pattonville board won MSBA’s Outstanding Board of Education Award for Human and Organizational Capital in 2017; Teaching, Learning and Assessment in 2016; for Governance, Leadership and Accountability in 2013; and the MSBA Outstanding Board of Education Award in 2002. Pattonville’s board was also a finalist for the award in 2011 and 2008.

Each year, the state of Missouri sets aside a week to recognize the volunteer work of more than 3,600 men and women who serve on school boards throughout the state. These public servants are elected by local constituents and do not receive compensation for their tireless efforts. Honored during the Pattonville recognition were: Jeanne Schottmueller, president; Andrea Glenn, vice president; Dr. Brian Gray, secretary; Mary Kay Campbell, treasurer; Ruth Petrov, director; Mindy Ridings, director; and Dr. Amanda Lienau Purnell, director.
