Career Pathways and Courses

For students interested in careers in arts, audio/visual technology and communications, there are many diverse options. Students can refine and grow their visual art skills in a range of mediums including drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, and graphic art.

 

Students interested in fashion and interior design can take courses in Family Consumer Science to grow career skills in these areas.

 

Starting in elementary school, students can begin exploring their love of music. At PHS, students can take part in beginning to advanced courses in orchestra, band, and choir as well as explore courses in in Music Technology, Music Theory, and more.

 

 

Students can take a range of courses through the PHS ELA Department. These courses help students refine their oral and written communication skills and explore specific types of communication. Through theatre, speech, and debate courses students perform, speak, entertain, and persuade in courses that teach the power of language and performance. In journalism courses students can write for the Pirate Press; create the newest edition of Echo, the school yearbook; and share the news through online content.

Students can also explore television and video production through courses and take part in Pirate Eye, PHS's own TV show.

 

Learn to communicate across diverse communities and across the world by studying Spanish, French, or German in our Modern Language Department.
