Important update to Pattonville's winter weather planning
Tuesday, November 26, 2019
Pattonville is adding another option to address school days impacted by severe winter weather. Pattonville's typical options for emergency weather situations call for canceling the school day entirely or, in rare instances, dismissing school early. This year, the district is adding a new option: delayed start times.

Under a delayed start, all Pattonville schools would start two hours later than normal (i.e., elementary schools start at 10:50 a.m. instead of 8:50 a.m.) and would end at the normal dismissal time. Normal start times for Pattonville schools are as follows:
• Pattonville High School, 7:23 a.m.
• Remington Traditional School, 8 a.m.
• Middle schools, 8:05 a.m.
• Elementary schools, 8:50 a.m.

Delayed start days for the Pattonville Early Childhood Center would mean the full-day and extended-day programs, which normally start at 8:15 a.m., would be delayed two hours; the morning half-day program would be canceled; and the afternoon half-day program would begin at its normal time of 12:15 p.m.

"We want to have another option at our disposal in those rare instances when conditions might be unsafe for children at the bus stop early in the morning, but improve later," said Dr. Tim Pecoraro, superintendent. "We may not use a delayed start very often, but we want to ensure parents know this is a new option for us to use beginning this school year."

With winter weather already in the region, it's important for families to ensure Pattonville has the most up-to-date information on file to contact families when needed. Classes in the district are canceled only in case of emergency or extremely bad weather. Any decision to change the school day schedule or cancel school will be announced using Pattonville’s automated system, which contacts families via email, text and phone. Announcements are also made on local radio and television stations (KMOX 1120 AM, KTVI Channel 2, KMOV Channel 4 and KSDK Channel 5), as well as via the district media:
Announcements begin at approximately 5:30 a.m. If a family does not receive a phone call when school is closed due to weather or another emergency, they should contact their child’s school office to ensure the district has the correct contact information for their
family.
