The school-community relations department of the Pattonville School District earned an Award of Merit for internal/external print newsletters from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA).

Pattonville was the only school district in the U.S. to earn an Award of Merit in this category after submitting samples of the "Pattonville Highlights" district newsletter to NSPRA's Publications and Digital Media Awards competition.

The “Pattonville Highlights” has served as one of the district’s main communication tools for more than two decades. This newsletter is published eight times a year, delivering news and information on a regular basis to the Pattonville community and staff. The publication highlights Pattonville's people, purpose and progress, including news regarding academics, finance, facilities and safety, along with features, accomplishments and school news.

NSPRA received more than 1,100 entries in this year's awards program and 667 received recognition. Pattonville staff members who contributed to the "Pattonville Highlights" include Mickey Schoonover, director of school-community relations; Bob Burns, photo/av specialist, who retired at the end of June; and Kelly Gordon, community relations specialist and secretary to the board of education.
