The Pattonville High School girls varsity soccer team is now headed to the state quarterfinals competition after defeating Hazelwood Central 4-0 in their state sectionals match. They will take on Eureka High School in the quarterfinal match at 6 p.m., Saturday, May 25 at Eureka. Admission to the game is $6.

Three schools in the Pattonville School District have earned state-level “Exemplar School” recognition for the implementation of their School-wide Positive Behavior Support (SW-PBS) programs. The SW-PBS program is designed to prevent inappropriate student behaviors by teaching and reinforcing appropriate behaviors and social skills.

Denish Jaswal, a junior at Pattonville High School, was chosen to participate in the highly selective STARS (Students and Teachers as Research Scientists) program at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) this summer. During the program, aspiring teenage scientists get the chance to work side-by-side with top scientists and gain hands-on experience within a laboratory research setting.

The Pattonville High School varsity girls soccer team defeated Parkway Central 3-0 on May 17 to capture the team's fifth district championship in a row. The team will compete against Hazelwood Central at the state sectionals tournament at 4 p.m., Tuesday, May 28 at the Florissant Civic Center. Go Pirates!

Briar Crest Elementary School will host a community event from 4:30 to 6 p.m., Friday, May 17 to celebrate the school’s history and community as it prepares to close at the end of the current school year. The Briar Crest Backyard Boogie will include a barbecue and live entertainment. Band members, cheerleaders and drill team members from Pattonville High School will also perform. Current and former Briar Crest families, staff, volunteers and community members are invited to attend this free event. Overflow parking is available at McDonnell Park (across the street from the school's back field).

Pattonville High School senior Anjali Fernandes is the winner of one of 2,500 National Merit Scholarships recently announced. She earned a $2,500 scholarship financed by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Fernandes plans on pursuing a career in public policy and will attend Harvard University. Fernandes was one of 15,000 National Merit Finalists this year. Only slightly more than half of those finalists go on to earn scholarships.

Pattonville High School honors its Top 10 seniors

Pattonville High School recognized the school’s Top 10 seniors (based on grade point average as of the end of the first semester) during its spring pep assembly. The event also enabled the school to recognize students who earned awards for academic pursuits, spring sports and following the Pirate Code to be respectful, responsible and involved. Pattonville staff presented the Top 10 students with T-shirts from the universities they will attend next fall.
