Early childhood takes to the streets

Pattonville’s early childhood program went on the road recently in an effort to reach more families. The trips into the community were part of the district’s early childhood improvement plan.

Group meetings for the Parents As Teachers programs were held at locations that were convenient for clusters of families, said Laurie Wenzel, director of early childhood. Recent group meetings were held at the Ridgepoint Crossing and Oxford Hills apartment complexes. A future meeting will be held at the Cypress Village Apartment Complex.

Parent educators are hosting meetings in the community instead of at their usual location at the Pattonville Learning Center in order to encourage more families to attend group meetings. Group meetings enable parents to learn more about different topics related to raising a preschooler and to provide parent-child interaction with learning activities.
