Three Pattonville siblings place well at national figure skating championship

Three Pattonville students and siblings recently earned places among the Top 10 finishers in skating events at the State Games of America Figure Skating Championships in Colorado Springs, CO.

Seth Martin, a fifth-grader at Drummond Elementary, won two national titles for 10-year-old boys in figure skating and medaled in two other events. He placed first in Beginner 5 Boys Compulsory Moves and Pre-Juvenile Pairs Free Skating, second in Beginner 5 Boys Restricted Free Skating and third in Bronze Boys Footwork. He competed in the pairs division against a wide range of ages with his partner Abbie Brown, who lives in Illinois.

Sophia Martin, a kindergartner at Drummond, had two Top 10 finishes. She won second in Beginner 1 Girls Compulsory Moves and fifth in Beginner 1 Girls Restricted Free Skating.

Mallory Martin, a sixth-grader at Holman Middle School, had two Top 10 finishes. She placed 5th in the Beginner 4 Girls Restricted Free Skating and 7th in Beginner 4 Girls Compulsory Moves.

Seth, Mallory and Sophia qualified to compete in the national State Games after placing in the Top 3 in the state of Missouri. The  State Games of America (SGA) is the premier, national multi-sport event for athletes of all ages and abilities held every biennium.  Medal winners from 31 State Games nationwide earn the right to compete against other winners and match their skills and competitive desire in a national arena.
