Open houses slated for Program for Exceptionally Gifted Students
Thursday, September 10, 2009
The Program for Exceptionally Gifted Students (PEGS) located in the Pattonville School District will host several open houses for parents and potential students.

The open houses are set from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Sept. 21, Oct. 20, Nov. 18, Dec. 17 and Jan. 8 at Drummond Elementary School, 3721 St. Bridget Lane in St. Ann. Parents who wish to send their child to PEGS or have their child tested are invited to the open houses to view the classroom, meet the PEGS teachers and gather more information. The program is now accepting applications, which are due no later than Feb. 1.

PEGS serves students in first grade through high school. As the north campus of the PEGS program, Pattonville serves students living in north and northwest St. Louis County, St. Charles County and surrounding areas. The elementary program is located at Drummond, the middle school program is located in Pattonville’s Holman Middle School and the high school program is located at Pattonville High School.

Pattonville began hosting the PEGS program in fall 1998. PEGS provides educational experiences for students who score in the top one-half of one percent on intelligence tests. The Pattonville location was opened to accommodate families living in north-northwest St. Louis County and surrounding areas. The program provides for accelerated learning through “curriculum compacting.”  Participants follow the Pattonville curriculum, but are usually about one year ahead of their peers. Art, music and physical education classes along with lunch allows the students time to interact with others at their age level.
