A biography
of Dr. Michael A. Fulton
Dr. Mike Fulton began his role as superintendent of the Pattonville School District on July 1, 2007. Dr. Fulton previously served Pattonville as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction from 2005 to 2007, and as Assistant Superintendent for Planning and Assessment from 1997-2005. As assistant superintendent, he supervised the instructional program for pre-kindergarten through 12th grades.
Prior to working in Pattonville, Dr. Fulton worked as a teacher at Wydown Middle School and as assessment coordinator for the School District of Clayton. While at Clayton, he taught sixth-grade math and science, served as an elementary technology teacher and as a seventh-grade gifted teacher. Dr. Fulton began his career as an elementary physical education teacher in the Bloomington (IL) School District, where he also taught fifth and sixth grades and served as the district’s liaison to Illinois State University. He also coached wrestling at Bloomington High School.
Dr. Fulton earned his doctorate in education from Saint Louis University in 2002. He also holds a master’s degree in school administration from Illinois State University and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Missouri State University. He was honored for excellence in teaching in 1990 when he was awarded honorable mention in Teacher’s Magazine’s Professional Best Awards program. In 2005, he was also honored with a Pride of Pattonville Award, which honors Pattonville volunteers and staff for service above and beyond expectations. Dr. Fulton and his wife, Katy, live in Bridgeton and have four children, two of whom graduated from Pattonville High School in 2006 and 2009 and two who currently attend Pattonville schools. |
