Superintendent's Advisory Councils
The
lines of communication are kept constantly open as the superintendent
hosts regular advisory councils for parents, students, teachers and
support staff. The superintendent provides updates on district issues
and events and opens the floor for rumor control and other issues to
be brought to the table in an informal and respectful atmosphere.
- Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council (PAC): The purpose of
this council is to maintain communication between the superintendent
and parents
of the district, to foster a better understanding of the district and
to improve the opportunities for our students. The council is composed
of
the president and one other representative from each school’s PTA
or PTO (parent-teacher organization), the superintendent and the principal
of the school hosting the PAC meeting. Members can place items on the
agenda by contacting the superintendent’s office a week before
the meeting. Agendas are then distributed to all council members, Board
of Education
members, administrators and posted in all buildings.
- Board Student Administration
Action Committee (BSAAC): This committee is composed of four students
from each of the freshman, sophomore, junior
and senior classes, along with a representative from Student Council,
the Pirate Press (student newspaper), yearbook and Positive School. These
students meet in September, October, November, February, March and
May with
the superintendent, the Pattonville High School principal, Board
of Education representatives and the teacher sponsor to discuss items
concerning
the
district and the high school. BSAAC also participates in several
community service projects each year.
- Teacher and Support Staff advisory councils: The superintendent also regularly meets in separate councils with
representatives from the teaching
staff and support staff. The format is similar to that used in the parent
advisory council meetings.
