Board of Education Interaction
- Dialogue with Community Leaders: Pattonville’s board members
keep in constant communication with the leaders of the three municipalities
it serves. The board hosts informal meetings with the city councils
of these municipalities. The board and councils share a light meal and conversation.
Additional meetings are held for religious leaders in the community,
state legislators serving Pattonville and area
realtors.
- Board of Education Focus Groups: The Pattonville
board implemented this unique concept as a way to engage a segment
of the community from
which it might not normally hear. Using a voter registration list and the
district’s
own parent and student databases, participants (parents, non-parents
and high school students) are selected and invited at random
to attend. Free
babysitting services and dinner are offered. Input from these
sessions is used as part of program evaluations and to help develop
recommendations
for change.
- Board of Education Meetings: The Board of Education meets
regularly throughout the year and presents an open forum at the beginning
of each meeting
for Pattonville residents to make comments before the board. Residents
are asked to sign up in advance by filling out a patron comment card
(available at the meetings) and turning it in before the meeting starts.
