Pattonville fifth grader completes unique marathon

When Adam Crivello crossed the finish line at the St. Louis Marathon on Oct. 21, he was completing an activity that had taken him several months of not only running but reading. Crivello, who is in the fifth grade at Carrollton Elementary School in Pattonville, was one of 200 students in the St. Louis area to complete the first ever Read and Run Marathon. The event required students to agree to read 26 books and run 25 miles prior to running the final 1.2 miles as part of the October marathon. The activity was for students age 6 through 12. Of the 400 students who started the project in May close to 200 crossed the finish line in May.
The Read and Run Marathon was sponsored by St. Louis Marathon and McBride and Sons.
