National Certification
Two Pattonville teachers among six in St. Louis area who earn nation’s highest credential in teaching - National Certification

Two teachers from the Pattonville School District are among six in the St. Louis area and 33 in the state who earned the highest professional credential in the field of teaching this year - National Board Certification. The announcement was made recently by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS).

Pattonville teachers earning national recognition are Tracey Robinson, a fifth-grade teacher at Carrollton Oaks Elementary School, and Paul Simpkins, a social studies teacher at Holman Middle School. Five teachers have earned this distinction while employed in Pattonville. During the three years the program has been in existence, 76 teachers in Missouri have become nationally certified.

National Board Certification is a growing trend as schools are looking for ways to improve teaching and learning. Many districts, including Pattonville, provide incentives and workshops to assist teachers desiring to earn this distinction.
The process involves a rigorous performance-based assessment, which takes about a year.
