Enrollment date set for Pattonville early childhood program

The Pattonville School District early childhood education program will have an open enrollment day for all locations from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31 in Room 103 of the Pattonville Learning Center. The building is located at 11097 St. Charles Rock Road in St. Ann.

Pattonville’s childhood preschool program serves 3-, 4- and prekindergarten 5-year olds. Pattonville offers several options for families to obtain early childhood learning experiences for their children through its preschool program:

* Multiage Classes (all half-day) – Children must be at least 3 years old on or before July 31, 2002, to enter these classes in August. These classes are for 3- and 4-year old children who will NOT be entering kindergarten in August 2003. The two-day program has a Monday/Wednesday option or a Tuesday/Thursday option in the morning or afternoon and is offered at various locations throughout the district.

* Pre-kindergarten classes

(all half-day) – Children who will be entering kindergarten in the fall of 2003 are eligible to attend pre-kindergarten classes in August. These classes will be offered at various locations throughout the district and are available in programs ranging from two days a week to five days a week, either in the afternoon or morning

Pattonville’s preschool curriculum is based on a constructivist approach to learning. This approach emphasizes children learning through self-exploration, play and hands-on activities. Activities are suited to children’s ages and abilities and address all areas of development: intellectual, social, emotional, physical and creative.
