A number of organizations made the back-to-school time a little easier for Pattonville families by donating school supplies and backpacks for the new year.
Long John Silver’s, the Reebok Basketball Tournament Series and the Kids and Families in Need Foundation donated 250 backpacks full of school supplies to be given out to families from Drummond Elementary School and Holman Middle School on a first-come, first-serve basis. The giveaway took place on Aug. 7 at Drummond, just a few days before the first day of school on Aug. 10.
Simple Church in Hazelwood in conjunction with Maryland Heights police and city employees also collected and donated backpacks and supplies for schools in Pattonville. In addition, the Dhvani Foundation donated 40 backpacks full of supplies to Bridgeway Elementary School. The Community Helping Ministry donated backpacks and school supplies via its annual back-to-school program, and an anonymous donor also provided new book bags and supplies to Pattonville High School.
