|Parents asked to set up accounts now to prep for online registration|
|Friday, April 8, 2016|
At the beginning of every new school year, Pattonville schools ask parents to fill out registration forms to re-enroll their children for school. In an effort to simplify this process, improve accuracy and save families time, Pattonville is moving to an online registration system that will eliminate the need to fill out the annual packet of registration forms.
In July, families with a student currently enrolled in Pattonville will receive a letter asking them to go online and verify or update demographic, emergency and medical information for each of their children using a secure program called E-Registration. Parents will access this online registration system through a Parent Portal Account in PowerSchool, Pattonville’s student information system.
To make this process work, Pattonville is asking parents to go online now and set up a PowerSchool Parent Portal Account if they do not already have one. Instructions on setting up a Parent Portal Account in PowerSchool will be mailed home to families the week of April 8. Elementary parents have not had PowerSchool access unless they also have students in middle and high school, since PowerSchool also serves as an online grade book for secondary students (where sixth- through 12th-grade students and their parents can view grades and attendance information). Parents of middle or high school students who are currently using their child’s portal account to review grades and attendance information will need to set up their own Parent Portal Account, as the student account cannot be used for registration purposes. For more information, parents may contact their school office or the Pattonville technology department at (314) 213-8146 or (314) 213-8045.
Parents without access to the Internet at home are encouraged to go online using computers at the St. Louis County Library branches in Bridgeton or St. Ann. In addition, the Pattonville High School library is open to Pattonville residents Mondays through Thursdays from 2:15 to 7 p.m. when school is in session. Parents may set up free email accounts at these locations through programs such as Google or Yahoo. Parents’ new or updated email addresses should be provided to the school offices as soon as possible to ensure parents receive timely information from their children’s school.
Pattonville piloted the new E-Registration system during kindergarten registration in March at select school locations. In the future, new enrollments will take place online using this new online registration system.
